GUIDE: Now jailbreak Using Custom Firmware With Redsn0w for Windows

As you know at the time Windows users cannot perform the jailbreak your device using a custom firmware. This, in fact, can only be done in Mac or by restoring a previously made custom firmware and downloaded from the web. However, unless you have special needs, you can use tools such as Greenpois0n and Limera1n. In this article we are going to explain the process to jailbreak your iPhone on Windows by using a custom firmware and Redsn0w.

1. Create a folder on your desktop named ‘Pwnage’.

2. Download RedSn0w 0.9.6b2 ( http://xs1.iphwn.org/rs/redsn0w_win_0.9.6b2.zip) and put it in the Pwnage folder. Likewise, download the firmware 4.1 for your device from this page and put it in the same folder.

3. Extract the archive you downloaded in the same folder Redsn0w.

4. Start the application Redsn0w.exe that we extracted earlier.

5. Once launched RedSn0w click on the Browse heading.

6. Select the firmware 4.1 IPSW file that we included in the Pwnage folder and click Open.

7. Once Redsn0w has completed its review of firmware, click Next to continue. The program will prepare the necessary files to the jailbreak.

8. A new window from which you can select some options for the jailbreak. Just check the item that allows you to set the device in DFU (pwned Just enter DFU mode right now).

9. Connect your iPhone to your computer, making sure it is turned off, and then click Next.

10. RedSn0w hours will guide you through the steps to enter DFU mode: you have to hold both the Home button the power button for 10 seconds, then release the power button and keep holding the Home button until RedSn0w not detect the device.

11. RedSn0w set the device in DFU using the exploit to Limera1n.

12. At the end of the process, the iPhone will be pwned in DFU mode and you can then restore the custom firmware via iTunes.

13. Now open iTunes and select the device from the list on the left, then click on Restore by holding down the Shift key.

A window will open where you can select the custom firmware to restore. At this point, after confirming the operation, the process is automatic and will only have to wait for iTunes fail to complete the restoration. In this way you will get a jailbroken device by using a custom firmware on the Windows platform.
