Jailbreak Your iphone 3G on iOS 4.0.2 Using Redsn0w [Complete Guide]

Like many other jailbreaking tools released by Dev Team, Redsn0w is one of them by using RedSn0w 0.9.5 you can jailbreak iOS 4.0.2 on your iPhone 3G which is recently released. Before applying the jailbreaking procedure you should know that your jailbroken iPhone or iPod touch warranty will be void. Don’t forget to change password after your device has been successfully jailbroken, remember to keep your backup files before going forward. Make sure you are using iTunes 9.2 or later.

This guide is only for Mac users.

1. Download the latest version of Redsn0w and save it on the desktop in the folder named “Pwnage“.

2. For your iPhone 3G download .ispw file of the latest iOS 4.0.2 firmware and save it in the same folder also download iOS 4 firmware.

3. Extract the Redsn0w zip file in to the same folder.

4. Connect your device with computer.

5. ‘Devices‘ section which is given at the left panel, select your iPhone 3G. Press and hold the option key and click on ‘Restore‘ button.

6. Open the Pwnage folder and select the .ipsw file of iOS 4.0.2 firmware.

7. Select the choose button so that iTunes will update your iPhone with relevant firmware.

8. Go back to Pwnage folder and run the Redsn0w setup.

9. You have to select the subsequent ipsw file. Click the browse button to select the ipsw of iOS 4 firmware.

You must use iOS 4 firrmware file, if you will select iOS 4.0.2 file then you will receive an error message as prescribed.

10. Confirmation of ipsw file will be done by Redsn0w and after successful verification it will inform you.

11. Next‘ to proceed. Now it will begin to prepare the jailbreak data.

12. Click the check box to select the options given below some of these may be already selected by default.

• Install Cydia
• Enable Multitasking
• Enable Homescreen Wallpaper
• Enable Battery percentage

‘Verbose boot‘ offers detailed booting information to users. This may not be necessary for common users and need not be selected. You may also choose to not check ‘Custom boot logo‘ and ‘Custom recovery logo‘ options if you prefer the default icons. However, if you wish to provide your own boot and recovery logos, do remember that these images have to be PNG files in RGB or grayscale mode and inside 320×480 resolution.

13. Click on Next, now you will be prompted to switch off your device. Make sure that your device is OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer. Click on Next to proceed.

14. Now keep your device into the DFU mode and apply the following steps carefully:

• First of all keep pressing the power button of your device for 2 seconds.

• Now at the same time press the iPhone button and keep holding both buttons for 10 seconds.

• While the home button is still under your thumb or finger, release the power button.

15.Your device will be restart.

16. New RAM and kernel uploading will be take place by Redsn0w.

17. Now click to select the Finish button.

18. Again your device will be reboot , may be you have to wait for 5 minutes, After that your device has been jailbroken successfully.
